A Non-spoiler Synopsis
Spice trader Cinnamon loves her peaceful life working her family’s spice farm, drinking mead and eating cheese with her friends, and cheering on the goddess Myva’s selected Heros from the sidelines. Every 15 years like clockwork the monsters trapped behind the Volsog gate escape and wreak all types of havoc amongst the humans. While Cin can appreciate the Heros for pushing those monsters back behind the gate, she has absolutely no interest in taking a part of it.
Wandering home after a night full of mead, Cin accidentally, saves a demon. At the time she didn’t know Fallon was a demon but luckily the only thing he wants is her help killing the evil witch enslaving his people. Well maybe not the only thing…
He’s also claiming that she is his mate.
My Thots on the Smut and Vibes of “That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon” by Kimberly Lemming
Kimberly Lemming’s debut novel “That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon” was a fun lighthearted read. My only complaint is the lack of world building and plot. The world building was definitely more “told” vs “shown”, and while there is some action along their quest the bulk of the novel feels more like watching Cin and Fallon traveling.
But that aside I still very much enjoyed this read. The overall tone of the novel was humorous and there were quite a few cute and silly scenes between the MMC and FMC. The only reason why I rated this book a 2 out of 5 ❤️ is because the romance between Fallon and Cin felt a little like insta-love.
This one is definitely spicy with a few scenes towards the end of the book. It does depict some BDSM elements and consent is handled very well. If you’re looking for a lighthearted comedic romantasy that is heavy on the romance and lighter on the fantasy, then you may enjoy this book!
